After a gut-wrenching defeat in the recent elimination finals for a place in next year’s South East Queensland Bowls Premier League, the North Toowoomba Bushrangers have received a reprieve and a late invitation to submit a registration following the shock withdrawal of longtime competitors South Tweed and Booval Swifts Ipswich.

Having to field two sides; 12 players for the Premier Division and a 16

a strong team for the Second Division, the race is now on to find players to fill the 28 player requirement for each weekend of the 11 game series, commencing with a doubleheader at the Bushrangers home base on the weekend January 11-12, 2020.

The club is seeking expressions of interest from players outside of the club who can commit for most of the 8-week competition.

Obviously there will be a need for those players, both men and women, to become an affiliate member of North Toowoomba to ensure they qualify under the rules of the QPL competition.

North Toowoomba Premier League Media & Sponsorship Manager, Peter Rookas, said the opportunity for bowlers in the region wanting to reach the heights of top-grade bowls competition is now available.

“We have a core of 16-20 experienced players capable of playing at Premier Division level but we need 28 each week,” he said.

“Queensland representative Robbie Hammond will bring a group from Roma each week and we have players from Dalby and Northern

NSW keen to compete as well as players from Booval Swifts.”

Players interested in nominating should contact the club for further details at ntbc@ bigpond.com or contact Peter Rookas, at 0447 366 150.
