A mixed day at the Australian Open see some of our men holding on to get a step closer to the singles finals while the big names in the women’s section were knocked out. Queensland has had a mixed day at the Australian Open singles competition, with some of our men holding on to get a step closer to the finals while the big names in the women’s section were knocked from the field.
In the men’s contest, Queensland hopefuls Ryan Bester, Paul Girdler, Brett Wilkie and Mark Casey remain in contention to take the top singles spot as they move towards the final to the played on Thursday.
Sadly, it was a different story on the women’s singles greens with our state’s best hopes, Lynsey Clarke and Julie Keegan, coming unstuck in yesterday’s knockout rounds.
See Bowls Australia’s website for a full report on both competitions.
Today’s competition will see more men’s and women’s singles knockout rounds, the men’s pairs semifinal and the start of the bowlers with a disability sectionals.
