Tweed women upset favourite Kawana in women’s GOLD, Cleveland women do the double in SILVER and BRONZE. Mooloolaba men edge out Musgrave Hill for GOLD, Kallangur men seize SILVER and Nambour, BRONZE. GOLD
Tweed Heads women were uncompromising in their pursuit of their third Super Challenge GOLD title at Algester Sports today.
They denied 2014 champions and tournament favourites Club Kawana, 8-2, in today’s final.
They had double the work of Kawana on finals weekend (since Kawana had done their hard work earlier in the season), but the Tweed girls were unfazed by the workload, in fact, it made them sharper and hungrier.
Tweed fired the warning shot yesterday (Sat March 28) with a 10-0 domination of Mooloolaba in the elimination semi, then torpedoed host club Algester Sports today 10-0 in the preliminary final, to earn their shot at Club Kawana in this afternoon’s final.

The Thunder played a qualifying semi yesterday, winning 8-2 against Algester Sports, to confirm their well-deserved spot in the GOLD final today (Sun March 29), expecting to defend the title they won in 2014, but taking nothing for granted.

Mooloolaba men won GOLD Super challenge, beating Musgrave Hill in a close and thrilling final, 3-2.
Other men’s teams at the pointy end playing GOLD finals at Algester Sports on finals day were Burleigh Heads, Rainbow Beach, Tweed Heads and Burleigh Heads.
SILVER
Cleveland women are the magnificent winners of SILVER Super Challenge, taking on Club Kawana in the final and never letting them into the game, winning 10-0.
Kallangur men were impressive in their dogged determination to prevail over Paradise Point, winning the men’s SILVER title 3-2.
BRONZE
Cleveland women pulled the double, winning not only SILVER, but Super Challenge BRONZE as well.
Cleveland beat Club Kawana 8-2 to get into the final, and then beat the Swifts 9-1 to clinch the title.
(Swifts beat Noosa Heads in the semi, 9-1.)
Nambour men won BRONZE Super Challenge in a tight final against Carina Leagues, 3-2.
To get into the final, Nambour beat Pine Rivers 3-2, and Carina Leagues defeated Ferny Grove 3-2.
