Bowls Queensland
Promo Trailer

The Bowls Queensland promotional trailer is the brainchild of former BQ development officer Nev Wood–Bradley.

The trailer has been all over the state, from Cairns in the north to Stanthorpe in the south and even out west as far as Winton, plus many other places in between.

It has visited shopping centres, schools, showgrounds, parking lots and parks, all the while promoting bowls and bowling clubs in the area.

Many clubs have difficulty attracting new members or even just getting the public through the gates to have a go at this great sport.

But as the old saying goes ‘if the mountain won’t come to Mohammad, Mohammad must go to the mountain’, and that is exactly what the BQ trailer is designed to do.

It is essentially a portable bowls rink, 15m long x 2m wide, that can be set up in almost any location and offers passers-by the opportunity to have a go at lawn bowls.

There is a sub-floor that can be levelled and is covered with a specially made carpet, giving a good representation of a bowling green.

BQ will also supply bowls, footing mats, jacks, magazines, stickers, pamphlets, a TV and DVD player, a fridge and an assortment of bits and pieces to assist the club or district with their promotion.

The trailer is best employed at show days, fairs, school events or any other type of community event and in conjunction with a come-and-try day can really help attract people to the club.

Unfortunately, the trailer is still the most under-utilised tool that clubs and districts have at their disposal, despite the fact it is FREE.

We would urge clubs across the state to seize the initiative and use the promotional trailer to attract more members to the sport.
