Disappointing end for Maroons

Team re-shuffle brings little joy as Queensland’s Under-18s drop third consecutive test Queensland rung in the changes for this morning’s final clash with New South Wales in the Under-18 Test Series at Taren Point Bowls Club.

After dropping tests one and two, and suffering defeat in the opening exchanges of test three, the relatively inexperienced Queensland side needed some big wins this morning to salvage a third test victory.

And while the re-shuffle paid off in the girls singles, where April Wilson took a rare victory over Blues ace Ellen Ryan, 21-11, the Maroons had little else to smile about on an otherwise disappointing morning.

Wilson’s win was the only Queensland victory of the day, with the re-shuffled girls fours outfit going down, 17-22, to bring the girls’ overall tally from the series to two wins from 12 games.

The boys fared even worse on day three, with newly appointed singles rep Braidan Leese going down 16-21 to Dylan Skinner, while the new-look fours team were well beaten 17-33.

The boys overall tally from the three-test series finished up at just one win and one draw from 12 games.
