Gateway leading the charge

Sensational bowls saw attritional encounters the order of the day in the Men’s competition as Gateway struggled to overcome Brisbane, 76-69, and Cunningham were given a scare by Condamine, 73-51.

Gold Coast Tweed continued to rack up wins, 80-48 over Mackay with Bundaberg seeing off Downs, 69-55, as these powerhouses top the Section B ladder. A Round 9 meeting between these heavyweights a mouth-watering prospect.

Elsewhere in Round 7 Sunshine Coast applied pressure to the leaders with a hefty 80-56 win over North Qld as Fraser Coast put a determined Leichhardt in their place, 77-43.

Gold Coast Tweed B and Central Qld went back on forth, eventually finishing with a close 65-63 victory for GCT.

Burnett are still looking for their first points of the Competition, this time beaten by Port Curtis, 73-53.

Section B saw Brisbane North move up to third with a well deserved win over Tropical Far North Queensland, 78-60.

Maranoa/Warrego kept Southern Downs to double figures but lost 50-91 and the Downs pick up their fist points. Keeping them company at the bottom is North West Queensland, who pushed Caboolture, 76-61, but ultimately could get over the line.
