Secondary All School’s Cup: end of day update

by admin on September 19, 2014

Siena Catholic College duo are dominating the All School’s Cup after three rounds of competing.
The Secondary All School’s Cup Challenge has seen 10 teams of pairs from across Queensland battle it out at Pine Rivers Memorial Bowls Club to win the coveted trophy.
It has been a blockbuster day of matches; with firm favourites Siena Catholic College being the only team to win every game they have played today.
They beat the boys from Lockyer District State High in round three with a high-scoring second set to cinch a large margin of 21, winning 8-4, 20-3.
Rebecca Rixon, one half of the superstar pairs team has been playing bowls for over half her life.
The 13 year-old is hopeful about her and Keely Ansell’s chances at tomorrow’s final match.
“We’re the only team to have won all of our games so we’re hopeful that we can keep up our consistency and make it into the final,” Rixon said.
Rixon also commends her teammate Ansell, who is relatively new to lawn bowls.
“Keely has played really well today, she only started playing bowls a month ago,” Rixon said.
With only one more round tomorrow morning and then the finals tomorrow, it’s safe to say the girls from Siena are the firm frontrunners in the competition, with an updated progress margin of 78 after their last game tonight.
Close behind the Siena girls is the Mundubbera State School girls in the opposing section, but as they have a bye in the next round, their chances at a final game is on shaky ground.
Tomorrow’s matches will prove to be thrilling as the 2014 All School Cup draws to a close.
