Teams Most Likely
Round 2, 2014 Queensland State Champion of Club Champion FOURS, Across the Waves (Bundaberg) men and Ferny Grove women are safe bets for a state finals berth. Their challengers yet to be decided… Sue Bond’s Ferny Grove girls Judith Collingwood, Karen Mateer and Kerrie Wilson are proving a tough combination to take points from, at this year’s 2014 Queensland State Champion of Club Champions fours finals.
The girls in green won their first round 25-16 against Marlin Coast, and their second round 31-6 against Binjour.
They’re due to play Kallangur in Round 3 but they’re expected to be untroubled to go through as Section One winners.
The Bundy boys from Across the Waves are also blitzing sectional play.
In Round One, they smashed Stanthorpe 27-13, in Round Two they carved up Jubilee Townsville 37-9.
They’ll play the Windsor boys tomorrow in Round 3, but are expected to be untroubled to go through as Section winners.
(Alan Brown’s Windsor boys are playing for Group 2 and they reckon they have plenty of tricks up their sleeves to pull out against Across the Waves tomorrow!!! One of their plans involves borrowing some of the margin of their Group 2 Ferny Grove girls…)
Section 2 winners are harder to predict, with Hamilton Power and Jindalee the most likely winner to go through to the men’s final.
For the women, most likely Section 2 winner to go through to the final is Broadbeach, the only team in their section with two wins in two games.
Broadbeach plays Yeppoon in Round 3 tomorrow, Yeppoon has one close loss 16-17 to Emerald and a convincing win 30-12 to North Toowoomba.
