QLD women claim “The Ashes”
QLD women have beaten a four year losing streak to NSW, taking “The Ashes” shield in the 2015 three-test series, with only two tests played. QLD men have given NSW a hat-trick of wins. Queensland women reversed the 2014 Australian Sides result, claiming victory over the Blues in Brisbane.
The three-test annual series continues tomorrow (9am Chermside Bowls Club) but the Maroons have stamped their claim on the prized “The Ashes” women’s shield, with a dominant display in the first two tests, winning 62-56 and 64-52.

Australian Sides 2014 champions QLD men couldn’t put a brake on New South Wales’ drive to avenge their loss at Aussie Sides, and take their third test series win in a row.
The Maroons men finished the first test 46-50, well within striking distance, but all hope was lost in the second test drama, with QLD men scoring only 30 shots, compared to the Blues 88 shots, losing all rinks (6–31, 10–33 and 14–24).
NSW will take home the prized Wal Currey Shield for the best men’s side at the annual QLD and NSW battle of the titans.
