Junior fours championships finish in style

Wiley takes fours final in tight contest Queensland’s young bowlers have once again given a lesson in “how it’s done” by playing three very tight games in the Junior Championship fours semi-finals and final in Bundaberg today (Thursday, 9 April).
Brittanny Wiley’s (Skip) team consisting of Carl Flegler (Lead), Shane Rideout (Second) and Bradley Flegler (Third) was ultimately successful, taking the final 22 – 18 from Liam Stephan (Lead), Justin Cribbin (Second), Dale McWhinney-Shillington (Third) and Tyler Pettigrew (Skip).
The win leaves Wiley and her team without a loss during the two day competition at Burnett Bowls Club.
Earlier in the day, Wiley’s team beat last year’s champ Hayden Vogler (Skip) and his buddies Jake Rynne (Lead), Mitchell Mears (Second) and Jesse Turnbull (Third) and in a tight semi-final by 21 – 18.
In the other semi-final game, Nathan Earle (Lead), Tegan Wilson (Second), Kalib Morgan (Third) and Kane Nelson (Skip) went down to Pettigrew’s team 17 – 26.
The juniors take to the greens again tomorrow morning (Friday, 10 April) when the pairs competitions for the under 18 boys and girls, and the under 15 combined get underway.
