Junior State Champs 2015. Three state pairs titles decided today, U18 Boys Zac Adams, Liam Stephan, U18 Girls Rebecca Rixon and Connie-Leigh Rixon, U15 Jessie Cottell and Jake Rynne. Three Queensland state championship pairs titles have been decided today in Bundaberg, with six of the state’s best young players (pictured clockwise, Liam Stephan, Zac Adams, Rebecca Rixon, Connie-Leigh Rixon, Jessie Cottell, Jake Rynne) being presented with medals and plaques to honour their efforts.
In the U18 boys final, Zac Adams and Liam Stephan defeated Justin Cribbin and Dale McWhinney-Shillington, 21-17.
In the U18 girls final, gun Kawana juniors, the Rixon sisters, Rebecca and Connie-Leigh, defeated 2014 U15 girls singles champ Jess Srisamruaybai and 2015 champion fours skip Brittanny Wiley, 23-10.
In the U15 title-fight, Jessie Cottell and Jake Rynne defeated Sean Gillis and Nick Cahill, 15- 10
It was a tense day for all, including the parents, who seemed to follow the bowls down the green as intently as the juniors.
Neil Adams and Gary Stephan (fathers of Zac Adams and Liam Stephan) said they were exhausted by just watching the bowls, so they couldn’t imagine how their sons were feeling.
Meanwhile, Jessie Cottell  was thrilled with her first ever state gold medal win and Zac Adams was playing it cool, already putting his victory behind him to focus on the future, the upcoming triples and singles comps.

Earlier today, the new U18 boys state pairs champs won their finals berth by overcoming Beau Gent and Kalib Morgan in a qualifying play-off.
In the U18 girls pairs, Rebecca Rixon and Connie-Leigh Rixon defeated Sophie Young and Michaela Bailey-Nelson in a post sectional to qualify for the final.
In the U15 pairs, Jessie Cottell and Jake Rynne beat Ben Jones and Ty Jesberg to win the right to contest the final.
