QLD prep for Aussie sides

by admin on March 9, 2017

BQ state reps will take on some of the best players in QLD  in a practice game March 19 to prepare for the Australian Sides Championships. With the Australian sides competition coming up in just over a month’s time, the Queensland team have scheduled an invitational game between the state representative teams and players from around QLD to test out the Maroons before they head to S.A.
The one-day event held at the Sunnybank Bowls Club (March 19) will help the Queensland side sharpen their skills and help with team bonding before the side face off with the rivalling states and territories at Lockleys Bowling Club April 6-9.

“It will be a great chance for the QLD representatives to test themselves against a really high-quality opposition,” BQ CEO Brett Wilkie said.

“It will help get the new players settled into the QLD side and for the invited teams it will be an opportunity for them to work on their game too and demonstrate their ability which could lead to them being considered for future state representation further down the line.”

The QLD women’s team will feature two new faces with Windsor Bowls Club’s Noelene Dutton and young hotshot Jess Srisamruaybai (Tweed Heads) joining the ranks of the women’s team and bringing with them a wealth of experience and talent.

In the men’s team Robert Wild (Pine Rivers) will be returning to the roster along with Anthony Kiepe (Club Helensvale) who will be coming out of retirement to provide the Queensland side with some extra manpower.
