The state final of the BPL Cup finished in dramatic style with the Edge Hill team able to secure themselves a place in the national final after a tense one end tie-breaker at Club Pine Rivers against runners-up Red Hill Community Sports Club.
Edge Hill’s Jeff Hammond, Tyler Pettigrew and Ashley Hammond drew the first two sets of the final 4-4 and 3-3 respectively in a rare double draw which was decided by a one end shootout which Edge Hill used to their advantage and won the end by just a single shot.
“We are very happy with the win as it was such a close game,” Pettigrew said.
“The boys played really well and everyone was just on fire and it could have gone either way as both teams were going shot for shot and every bowl counted, it was an incredible game but we are thrilled to get such a great result.”
The win secures Edge Hill a place in the national final during BPL06 (November 14-17) at Pine Rivers Bowls Club.
