U18s selected for Test Series
Bowls Queensland announced the 10 players to play at the annual U18s QLD V NSW Interstate Test Series (July, 8-10). Bowls Queensland has officially announced the 10 players selected to represent Queensland at the annual U18s QLD V NSW Interstate Test Series (July, 8-10).
This year’s team consists of six debutants with a number of notable regular representatives having passed the cut off age for the team.
Representing Queensland for the first time in the series will be Kyandra Kelly, Hannah Ogden, Zayah Morgan & Caysee Wilson for the girls, while brothers Carl Flegler and Brad Flegler will don the maroon jersey for the first time on the boy’s side.
Bowls Queensland selection coordinator Greg Bostock says he is confident in the new players and believes they will be up to the task of tackling a crack New South Wales side.
“I believe we have picked the best performing players in Queensland, they all proved themselves to be more than capable of handling the challenge of state representation at the Junior State Championships in January,” Bostock said.
“The players chosen for Test Series are honoured to be picked and they understand what is expected of them when they represent their state, we are looking forward to the competition as it’s always a good contest between two highly skilled sides.”
Bostock says the Test Series will serve as a benchmark to help selectors pick the most effective combination to represent QLD at the Australian Under 18 Championships in September.
Returning to represent the Queensland girls will be Enoggera’s Isabella Lawson, while seasoned veterans Jake Rynne (Nth. Toowoomba), Kane Nelson (Belmont) and Nick Cahill (Across the Waves) will be returning for the boys.
The venue for the Test Series will be announced later next week.
