Ladies Prestige Pairs at Broadbeach
By Ryan Bester
The Bowlers Paradise $5000 Ladies Prestige Pairs was held on September 12th & 13th. The competition saw 37 teams play six games over the two days to determine the winners. It was a great return to tournament play at the club after covid restrictions. At one point 50 teams were entered but due to the border restrictions some had to drop out. We had Australian players, State Players, District players as well as newer players to the game competing. The top two spots tho went to Jackaroo representatives.
The star studded duo of Chloe Stewart (Tweed Heads) & Kelsey Cottrell (Broadbeach) lead the tournament from start to finish. They won all six games with a good margin. One other team one all six which consisted of Jesse Cottell (Tweed Heads) & Bolivia Millerick (Broadbeach). It shows the toughness of the competition with only two teams winning all games. Round out the top three was the all Broadbeach duo of Cheryl Heaps and former Kiwi International Serena Matthews.
The tournament also saw some of Broadbeach’s new members gaining valuable experience against the games best. Ivanka Adams & Vicki Grenot loved the opppurtunity to play against the Worlds Best at Broadbeach.
The greens were fantastic as usual. The annual event takes place each September and we are hoping for a full field of 56 teams next year.
We would like to thank our sponsors Bowlers Paradise, CUB & The Broadbeach Bowls Club.
