by jgrey on April 7, 2022

Bowls Queensland is pleased to announce the 2023 QLD Junior State Championships will be held in Bundaberg at the Burnett and Across the Waves Bowls Clubs. The event will commence on Sunday 15 January and run through until Friday 20 January 2023, and will feature singles, pairs, triples and fours events.

Bowls Queensland would like to thank the Bundaberg Regional Council for their support in attracting the event to their region and District Junior Coordinator Des Kemp for his groundwork.

BQ CEO Brett Wilkie said Bundaberg has always been a great breeding ground for junior bowlers led by Des Kemp.

“The Burnett and Across the Waves Bowls Clubs have done a great job in hosting this event in the past and we look forward to another great event in the Bundaberg Region”.

District Junior Coordinator, Des Kemp, said it will be fantastic to have the Junior State Championships back in Bundaberg.

“It’s wonderful see the up and coming talent from all over QLD coming together in Bundaberg.

“Thank you to the Bundaberg Regional Council for sponsoring the event.”

The Junior State Championships have been running since 1987 (boys) and since 1992 (girls). This prime event attracts players from all over Queensland.

Bundaberg is a good destination for the championships, as its location is central for many of the participants and supporters who will be travelling to the event. Bundaberg offers many attractions for visitors to entertain themselves before, during or after the event.
