Two Gold’s for QLD Junior Triples Champions
Todd Brain, Samuel Collier and Jack Chirgwin have claimed their second Gold Medal in as many days after winning the QLD Under 18 Open Triples at the Burnett Bowls Club this afternoon. The trio overcame the formidable Lacey Gerick, Travis Pearce and Riley Gerick by 8 shots in a quality final.
Todd, Samuel and Jack came out firing to race away to a 15-1 lead after 8 ends. Lacey, Travis and Riley rallied over the next few ends including picking up 5 shots on the 11th end to reduce the gap to 7 shots. Both teams traded ends for the remainder of the game with Todd, Samuel and Jack holding their margin to claim the title without playing the last end.
This was the second gold medal for each of the boys this week with Samuel winning the U18 Pairs and Todd / Jack winning the U18 Fours yesterday. Lacey and Riley were defending champions after winning the triples title with brother Cody last year, Samuel also won the Triples in 2022.
In the Bronze Medal match, after being 5 all, Brody Carter, Steve Bird-Monk & Rhys Gillman took the lead and never looked back, going on to defeat Xavier Parkinson, Zedd Peters & Christian McLellan by 5 shots.
U18 Open Triples Results:
Gold/Silver Medal Match: Todd Brain, Samuel Collier & Jack Chirgwin 19 def Lacey Gerick, Travis Pearce & Riley Gerick 11.
Bronze Medal Match: Brody Carter, Steve Bird-Monk & Rhys Gillman 19 def Xavier Parkinson, Zedd Peters & Christian McLellan 14.

U18 & U15 Girls and Boys Singles and U12 Open Singles will commence tomorrow at the Burnett and Across the Waves Bowls Clubs with sectional play starting at 8:30am.
