State Singles Day 2
STATE WOMEN’S & MEN’S SINGLES finalists have been confirmed and will do battle at Club Musgrave tomorrow (Sunday 26 May) commencing at 8am, (live streamed).
Defending women’s champion Katelyn Inch’s aim of back-to-back is still alive after surviving a quarter final thriller, defeating former Singles Champion Bolivia Millerick 21-20. Inch now plays Club Tweed’s Gail Crompton in tomorrow mornings semifinal after Crompton defeated Heather Hodgson 21-19. Quality close games was the trend of the quarter finals with 2019 Champion Chloe Stewart sneaking over the line 21-17 over Leeanne Poulson, she will play Tilly Orero in the other semi after Orero scaped home 21-20 over Sharon Weatherby in her quarter.
After falling agonisingly close in last year’s final to Kurt Bown, Brendan Wilson survived today’s three rounds in his bid to go one better. We will see a first-time winner in the men’s event with no former champions reaching the final eight, quarter finals first up in the morning.
