QLD U18 Boys Win Best Performed State
The Queensland boys’ team of Riley Gerick, Rhys Gillman, Brody Carter, Todd Brain and Trent Brehmer have been awarded the best performed team in the Australian U18 Championships at Club Tweed. The boys claimed the title by the barest of margins of one point over their nearest rivals.
Rhys Gillman, Brody Carter, Todd Brain and Trent Brehmer won gold in the Boys Fours, defeating Tasmania’s Lachlan Strochnetter, Riley Davie, Logan Marshall and Oliver Morrison 12-9 in the final. Trailing 5-7, the Queenslanders won five of the next seven ends to claim the title.
The composite team of Cooper Fliedner (NSW) and Queenslanders Cooper Sutton, Thomas Brehmer & Jack Hayward claimed the Fours Bronze Medal after defeating Victoria 17-15.
Phoebie Russell, Ashlin Johnson and Tilah Mason won Bronze in the Girls Triples after defeating Victoria 16-12.
In the Boys Singles Bronze Medal play off, Riley Gerick lost to Victoria’s Koby Cromie 16-21.
