QLD U18 and U15 Pairs Champions Crowned
Jacob Hoger & Brody Carter (Under 18) and Marley Peters & Cooper Sutton (Under 15) have won their respective age group QLD Junior Pairs Titles at Club Helensvale today.
Hoger and Carter overcame brothers Thomas and Trent Brehmer in a last bowl thriller by 1 shot in the U18 final.
The Brehmer’s went out to 5 shot lead early, and then led 10-6 before Hoger and Carter won the next five ends to lead 16-10 with two ends to play. Three shots to the Brehmer’s on the second last end gave them a chance going into the last end but only managed to score two shots on the last. A maidan Pairs Gold for Hoger and Carter, a second gold in these Championships for Carter after winning the Fours earlier in the week.
Lacey Gerick and Riley Gerick overcame Tilah Mason and Jack Hayward to claim the U18 Bronze Medal.
In the Under 15 Pairs, Peters and Sutton defeated Rebecca Blackley and Mia Scurr in the final to claim back-to-back titles. After surviving a close semi final, Peters and Sutton dominated in the final. A second Gold for Sutton after winning the Triples on Tuesday and a second Silver for Scurr who also reached the final of the Fours on Tuesday.
Keala Nukunuku and Taylor Baart defeated Ashton Vardy and Steven Bird-Monk to take home the U15 Bronze Medal.
Singles sectional play commences tomorrow with U18 Boys, U18 Girls and U15 Girls at Club Helensvale while U15 Boys and U12 Open Singles will be played at Club Robina. Finals for all age groups will be played at Club Helensvale on Saturday morning.
