Henry Wins Third Title in Thrilling Comeback Victory!
Geoff Harrison and Jeremy Henry staged an extraordinary comeback to clinch the men’s pairs title at the 2025 Championships, overcoming a 19-4 deficit to defeat Glen Pitts and Matt Lucas 23-22 in a nail-biting final at Coolum Beach today.
Trailing by two shots heading into the last end, Harrison and Henry were holding two when Henry delivered a spectacular final bowl to seal the win — earning Henry his third title of the championships after triumphs in the Mixed Pairs and Men’s Triples. For Harrison, it marked a second gold after winning the triples alongside Henry and Kurt Brown.
In the bronze medal match, Tyler Pettigrew and Jake Rynne overcame Luke Day and Ian McDonald 25-14 with a strong performance.
Spicer and Wilson Break the Drought in Women’s Final
Emma Spicer and Wendy Wilson finally broke through for gold after two consecutive runner-up finishes, defeating Vanessa Holmes and Ruth Smith 21-12 in a commanding final performance. The pair set the tone early, maintaining pressure throughout to secure the title.
Holmes and Smith reached the final with a thrilling semi-final victory over defending champions Maree Gibbs and Tracy Foster, winning on an extra end. Gibbs and Foster bounced back to take bronze, defeating Sophie Allan and Jo Watts 20-8.
A heartfelt thank you to Identified Services for sponsoring the pairs, and to Coolum Beach Bowls Club and the Sunshine Coast Council for their continued support of the Championships.
