Katelyn Inch Secures Fourth Queensland State Singles Title
Katelyn Inch from Club Kawana claimed her fourth Queensland State Women’s Singles Championship title with a commanding 25-9 victory over Dale Rayner of Broadbeach in the final held at Coolum Beach today. This win marks Inch’s fourth title in nine years and her second at this venue, repeating her 2023 success.
After falling short in last year’s final against Chloe Stewart, Inch returned with determination, storming to an early 11-0 lead. Rayner fought back to narrow the margin to 14-9, but Inch responded emphatically, winning the next five ends to seal a dominant win.
Inch’s path to the final included a hard-fought 25-20 semifinal win over Kira Bourke from Club Tweed. Meanwhile, Rayner earned her spot in the final with a strong 25-14 performance against Vicki Cameron of North Ipswich. In the bronze medal match, Bourke defeated Cameron 25-18.
Bowls Queensland extends its sincere thanks to Coolum Beach Bowls Club for hosting the finals and to all participating host clubs for their support. Special appreciation goes to the club staff and dedicated volunteers, particularly the greens teams, whose tireless efforts made the event a success.
A big thank you also to Bowls Gold Coast Tweed for their excellent live coverage, and to everyone who took part in this year’s competition.
Gratitude is extended to the Bowls Queensland Committee’s and staff for their role in the smooth delivery of the event, and to our valued sponsors Suzuki Queensland and Sunshine Coast Council for their continued support of the Championships.
