QLD Australian Sides Teams Announced

by bwilson

After a hard-fought series, where both the men’s and women’s sides were only a few shots away from series wins, the selectors deliberated on who the 12 men & 12 women would be to represent QLD at the Australian Sides Championships in Tasmania.

The men’s side will be aiming to go one rung higher on the ladder after winning silver at last year’s Alley Shield, and the women’s team will be looking to retain the Marj Morris Trophy after their successful 2024 campaign.

The women’s team will roll out a pair of changes following the NSW Test Series. Lilly Vardy and Jacinta Weier will make their Open side debuts. Vardy will be leading off for Millerick’s rink and Weier will anchor Cottrell’s front end as second.

Lynsey Clarke and Claire Turley have passed on that they are unable to be selected for the Australian Sides Championships. Claire has withdrawn due to new work commitments, and Lynsey has announced she is wanting to take a break away from representative duties for the foreseeable future.

Our men’s team will go into the Alley Shield with two changes from the side that narrowly went down in the NSW test series. Bradley Lawson returns to the Open side after making his debut in 2022. Sean Baker also rejoins the team after being unavailable for the NSW Test.
