The Waves Bundaberg Pair Claim Mixed Pairs Champion of Champions Title
Jenny Dingle and Ian McMah from The Waves Bundaberg have been crowned the 2025 Mixed Pairs Champion of Champions after defeating West Toowoomba’s Julia and Calum Brownie 23-12 in Sunday’s final.
The Bundaberg duo’s path to the title was anything but straightforward. They opened with a solid 25-16 victory over Mt Isa’s Beverly Peters and Alex Murtagh, before surviving two nail-biters. In Round 2, they edged out Club Kawana’s Brenda and David Balchin 18-16, and in Round 3 secured their finals berth with a dramatic 23-22 win against siblings Nicole and Anthony Williams.
The Brownies also faced a tense opening encounter, scraping past North Dalby’s Letitia Weir and Joshua Steffens by just one shot. From there, they found their rhythm with two commanding wins: a 27-17 triumph over Broadbeach pair Vikki Grenot and World Bowls Hall of Fame inductee Aron Sherriff, followed by a 24-10 victory against Mackay City’s Vincent McSherry and Florence Ruggeri.
In the gold medal clash, the Brownies raced to an early 5-2 lead before Dingle and McMah steadied to keep the scores tight. With the contest finely balanced, a decisive count of six on the 15th end swung momentum firmly in Bundaberg’s favour. A further count of three on the 18th end sealed their memorable win.
