Bowls Queensland today announces that Chief Executive Officer Brett Wilkie has tendered his resignation. Brett will serve a four-week notice period, with his duties concluding at the end of the North vs South event.

Brett has led Bowls Queensland for nine years, marking his ninth anniversary at the end of September 2025. During his tenure he oversaw a turnaround in the sport’s trajectory in Queensland, driving new growth, strengthening participation pathways, and building deeper connections with clubs and districts statewide.

Bowls Queensland President Brian Marshall said:
“On behalf of the Board, I thank Brett for his outstanding leadership and service. He has been instrumental in revitalising bowls in Queensland and has been a great asset to the Bowls Queensland office. We appreciate the professionalism and passion he brought to the role and wish him every success in the future.”

Outgoing CEO Brett Wilkie said:
“I am very thankful for my time at Bowls Queensland and have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve our clubs, districts and members. I extend my sincere thanks to the Board and our dedicated staff and committees for their input and support over the years. The sport is in a strong position, and I look forward to watching its continued growth.”

Bowls Queensland also announced the appointment of Brendan Wilson as Interim Acting CEO. Brendan, under the tutelage of Brett, will oversee the organisation over the coming months while the role is advertised and viable candidates are explored. The Board will commence a formal recruitment process immediately and will provide an update once a permanent appointment is confirmed.
