Queensland has once again stamped its authority on the national stage, securing a fourth consecutive Para Nationals Best Performed State title at the Burnie Bowls Club in Tasmania. It was an exceptional campaign, with the team bringing home four gold medals and one silver from six events.

The women’s trio of Serena Bonnell, Louise Hoskins and Cheryl Lindfield delivered a flawless performance that will stand long in the record books. They dominated every discipline, finishing the event undefeated to claim two gold medals each. Capping off her outstanding week, Serena Bonnell was also named Women’s Most Valuable Player for the Para Nationals.

Queensland’s men were equally impressive, adding more silverware to the tally. The men’s pairs combination of Brett Sellars and Clive Williams claimed gold after a tense extra-end victory over long-time rivals New South Wales. Their path to the title was built on superb sectional form, winning all three games by a combined margin of 58 shots. They carried that momentum into finals day, defeating Tasmania 19-9 before sealing the gold medal in a gripping decider.

In the singles, Damien Delgado produced a strong campaign, winning all three of his sectional matches to progress to the semi-finals. He edged Tasmania’s David Minns 19-17 to book a spot in the final, where he met his world championship pairs partner, James Reynolds. Reynolds proved too strong on the day, claiming the match 21-9, with Delgado finishing proudly as the silver medallist.

The Queensland triples team opened their campaign strongly, winning their first four games and sitting in a promising position with two rounds to play. Despite a late stumble with losses to Victoria (11-21) and Tasmania (11-18), they showed strong resilience throughout and concluded the event in fourth place.
