Gold Coast to Host 2026 Queensland State District Sides Championships
Bowls Queensland is pleased to announce that the 2026 Queensland State District Sides Championships will be held on the Gold Coast, bringing together the best bowlers from across the state in one of the most competitive and anticipated events on the annual calendar.
A total of 720 players will compete across the Championships, including 400 male and 320 female competitors, each proudly representing one of Queensland’s 20 districts.
The event will be played across four days, featuring 12 games in total, with three days of sectional rounds followed by a finals series to determine this year’s champions.
Matches will be hosted at some of the Gold Coast’s premier bowling venues, with the Men’s competition held at Club Helensvale and Club Broadbeach, while the Women’s competition will take place at Club Musgrave and Mermaid Beach Bowls Club.
The Championships are proudly supported by Experience Gold Coast, continuing a strong partnership that highlights the region as a leading destination for major bowls events.
City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate welcomed the return of the event to the Gold Coast.
“Over the past decade, the Gold Coast has worked tirelessly to support lawn bowls including para-athletes competing in all formats of competition,’’ said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.
“We want to be recognised as the spiritual home of lawn bowls in Australia and hosting the 2026 Bowls Queensland State District Sides Championship takes us that step closer. I wish officials, players, sponsors and supporters success at the 2026 festival.’’
Bowls Queensland President, Brian Marshall, said the Championships remain one of the most enjoyable and fiercely contested events on the calendar.
“The State District Sides Championships consistently deliver a high standard of competition, with the best players from each district coming together to represent their regions with pride,” he said.
“It is also a unique event that brings people together, with long-standing friendships renewed each year and a strong sense of camaraderie shared across all districts.”
“The diversity of participants and the spirit in which the event is played make it a standout on our calendar, and we look forward to another outstanding Championships on the Gold Coast.”
With elite competition, strong district pride, and a vibrant host region, the 2026 Queensland State District Sides Championships are set to once again showcase the very best of bowls in Queensland.
