Queensland Representative Teams Named for QLD vs NSW Test Series
Bowls Queensland is pleased to announce the Queensland Kookaburras teams selected to take on New South Wales in the upcoming QLD vs NSW Test Series, to be played at Cabramatta Bowling Club from 22 to 23 July 2026.
The series will see Queensland represented across the Open Men, Open Women, 40-59 Men, 40-59 Women, Under 25 Men and Under 25 Women disciplines, with a strong blend of experienced state representatives, rising talent and first-time Queensland representatives named across the selected teams.
This year’s teams also mark an important milestone for the Queensland representative program, being the first selected following an overhaul of the selection process by the Bowls Queensland Selection Committee.
The updated process has placed a greater focus on player results, game data collected throughout the 2026 State Championships and District Sides events, performances at the recent Australian Indoor Qualifiers, and observations from the BQ High Performance Development Camp.
A number of players have been rewarded with their first opportunity at Open level, with Jake Rynne, Hayden Oster, Mitchell Mears and Olivia Rothwell all set to make their Open team debuts for Queensland.
Their selection reflects strong recent performances and continued development, with each player now earning the opportunity to test themselves in one of Queensland’s key interstate representative fixtures.
Bowls Queensland also congratulates the players selected to make their Queensland representative debuts at the series. Reese Finn-Young, Sheridan Gollan, Ian McMah, Dean Sluce, Anthony Williams, Fiona Dowling, Fiona Williams, Max Evans and Xavier Parkinson will each wear the Queensland colours for the first time.
These selections are an exciting sign of the depth building across the Queensland pathway, with players earning their opportunity across multiple disciplines and age groups.
While Queensland will field a strong side across all categories, the Women’s team will be without Kelsey Cottrell and Serena Bonnell, who are unavailable due to Australian representative commitments at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Jamie Anderson was also unavailable for selection due to work commitments.
The QLD vs NSW Test Series remains one of the major representative opportunities on the Queensland calendar, providing selected players with the chance to compete against strong interstate opposition and continue building towards future state and national opportunities.
