Bowls Queensland is proud to announce Lynsey Clarke as the new General Manager of Bowls Operations, bringing more than three decades of experience across Queensland and Australian bowls, spanning grassroots and club management through to elite competition, high-performance coaching and national athlete pathways to the role.

Lynsey is joining BQ after most recently serving as National Performance Pathways Manager with Bowls Australia, where she led the national framework connecting state academies, emerging athletes and the national high-performance environment.

She also spent five years as High-Performance Pathways Coach and Academy Lead with Bowls Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport, and previously managed the Bowls Department at Club Helensvale for nine years, where she launched the club’s inaugural Junior Academy Program and oversaw the delivery of international, national and state-level events.

Her business background includes a Bachelor of Business in Club and Event Management from Griffith University, the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme, and a Foundations of Directorship Course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors, alongside ongoing work with World Bowls’ Bowls in the Olympics Advisory Group.

Before retiring from international representation, Lynsey represented Australia as a Jackaroo for 20 years, playing over 450 games and captaining the national team from 2011 to 2018. She is a three-time World Champion, Commonwealth Games gold and silver medallist, eleven-time Australian Open Champion and 27-time Queensland State Title Champion. She has been inducted into the Griffith University, World Bowls and Bowls Australia Halls of Fame, and in 2026 was elevated to become one of just 14 Bowls Australia Hall of Fame Legends.

In her new role, Lynsey will draw on her extensive experience across grassroots bowls, club management, high performance and national pathways to support Bowls Queensland’s broader strategic priorities. Her focus will include strengthening connections with clubs and the wider bowls community, supporting participation and performance pathways, improving systems and processes, and identifying new opportunities to grow and evolve the sport across the state.

Lynsey said she was looking forward to bringing her experience back to Queensland bowls.

“Queensland bowls has been such a significant part of my life for more than three decades, and I feel incredibly fortunate for everything the sport has given me. I’ve experienced bowls from grassroots and clubland through to representing Queensland and Australia and working across national pathways and high performance, and I’m excited to bring that experience back to our sport here in Queensland,” Lynsey said.

“I’m passionate about our people and our clubs, and I want to combine my professional expertise and leadership experience with my lived experience in the sport to create opportunities for bowls to grow and thrive across Queensland. I’m looking forward to connecting with more Queenslanders and working alongside the BQ team, our clubs, members, volunteers, athletes, coaches and officials to strengthen what we already do well, embrace new opportunities and help shape an exciting future for our sport.”

Bowls Queensland CEO Fletch Dyson said Lynsey’s appointment reflected the organisation’s focus on building the right team for the future of the sport here in Queensland.

“Lynsey is a fantastic addition to the Bowls Queensland team, and we’re incredibly proud and excited to have her on board. She brings great energy, experience and a genuine passion for people and the sport, and I’m really looking forward to working with her as we continue to build on the momentum we have at BQ,” Dyson said.

“We have a lot of exciting work ahead of us, and having the right people in the right roles is critical to delivering on our vision for the future of bowls in Queensland. I know Lynsey will make a terrific contribution, and I’m delighted to welcome her into the senior management team.”

Bowls Queensland President Brian Marshall echoed the Board’s enthusiasm for the appointment.

“On behalf of the Bowls Queensland Board, it’s a pleasure to welcome Lynsey Clarke into the organisation. Her track record across grassroots clubs, national pathways and elite sport speaks for itself, and the Board is confident she’ll be a real asset to our team,” Marshall said.

“We’re in a period of real growth for the sport in this state, with a strong focus on backing our clubs and members and opening up new opportunities across the bowls community. Bringing someone of Lynsey’s calibre and experience on board is a significant step in that direction.
The Board looks forward to seeing the impact Lynsey has on the future of Bowls Queensland.”

Lynsey will commence her role with the Bowls Queensland team from Monday 12th October.
