Bowls Queensland’s (BQ) new statewide inter club competition “Taylor Bowls State Challenge” (TBSC) will feature four Leagues all playing for a State Title.
Northern Districts will be able to play their competition in the later part of 2025 (i.e. September/December). Clubs in large districts (area wise) may choose to play their games over 1 or 2 weekends. For Southeast Queensland, the competition will be run from approx. 1st February to Finals on 28 & 29th March 2026. Winners from sectional play will advance to post sectional rounds followed by a final’s series.
BQ is the Controlling Body and delegates the authority to the TBSC Match Committee to act on its behalf to control this event. All finances will be controlled by BQ.

The Competition is Open Gender and shall comprise of four Leagues: Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Diamond League and Gold League – 11 players: Fours, Triples (2 bowls), Pairs (2x2x2x2), Pairs (3 bowls)
Silver League and Bronze League – 9 players: Fours, Triples (two bowls) and Pairs (2x2x2x2).
Cost to enter team/s is Diamond $2,200, Gold $1,100, Silver $825, Bronze $550 (all Inc GST).
All nomination fees will be returned in either prize money (including rink wins) or allocated to a travel fund.
Diamond League – A maximum of 16 teams as determined by TBSC (if more than 16 nominated).
Gold League – Division 1 clubs throughout the State (or determined by membership numbers – i.e. Bronze)
Silver League – Division 2 clubs and below throughout the State.
Bronze League – For clubs of 65 male members (for baseline figure only) or less, and division 5 players and below. Clubs are able to enter an all-women’s side if numbers permit.
*The Controlling Body may at its absolute discretion alter a club’s nomination from one League to another to achieve a balanced and fair competition.
Clubs may nominate teams in any or all of the Leagues, however, clubs will be limited to one team in Diamond. All clubs will pay their nomination fee upon entry. Where practical all Sections shall have six sides.
Eligibility – All players must be a primary member of a club affiliated with Bowls Queensland and a financial member of the club they are representing in this event. (No marquee players).
The winning club in each League will be provided with a State TBSC Flag plus prize money and individual badges. Bannerettes plus prize money will be awarded to runners up in each League. Rink win prize money will be awarded during sectional play as determined by the Controlling Body. Final prizemoney will be determined by the number of entries.
A travel fund will be established from a % of nomination fees to assist with teams travel in finals games as determined by the Controlling Body.
The Diamond League competition will play for the Brian Stewart Trophy as a tribute to the long and tireless work that Brian has devoted to bowls in Queensland.
