Why was the Queensland High Performance Academy created?

The initiative for the Academy was born out of an identified gap for those juniors and Under 25s transitioning out of their age brackets, and wish to obtain State Team Representation. 

  • Great opportunity to provide a catchment squad and training platform for graduating juniors and young adults who are in the early stages of their developing bowls careers;
  • Need for athletes in this age bracket to feel ‘part of something’ and ‘connected’;
  • Shown value of having a structured training program and environment to the level/speed of development in sport;
  • Academy is a steppingstone, forming part of a genuine and clear pathway, for young athletes throughout Queensland who have a desire to represent at the highest level.
