It’s time to turn on your tv Today, at 1pm AEST Brisbane Gold take on Sydney Lions in the opening match of the inaugural Australian Premier League, and all eyes will be on the first bowl as this new and innovative bowls competition gets underway at Club Pine Rivers, Brisbane.
Melbourne Roys will face NZ Blackjacks as Adelaide Endurance clash with Perth Suns to complete the trio of early games in this never before seen rivalry.
Then at 5pm, the games will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Sky NZ, delivering live bowls into homes and clubs throughout Australia and New Zealand, with the Gold lining up against the Endurance at 8pm for their live debut.
Over 30 hours of APL will be televised over the four-day tournament, with APL Ambassador and comedian Mick Molloy joining the commentary team for Thursday and Friday. But if you wish to get closer to the action and taste the atmosphere, there is grandstand seating available at Pine Rivers.
A total of nine quickfire matches will take place on the APL’s opening day, this electrifying format will continue over the next three days as the teams do battle in 30 games to fill four semi-final berths with the aim of playing Friday evening’s first ever APL Grand Final showdown to be crowned inaugural champions.
