Australian Senior Sides Day 2 Results

by Bowls QLD

Day 2 of the Australian Senior Sides (Over 60) at the Joondalup Bowling Club, Perth WA.

Our Queensland men came out firing defeating last year’s champions Victoria in the morning to move to the top of the ladder after three rounds. John Finlayson’s rink led the way opening up an early lead with the other two rinks finishing strong to win on all rinks. They then took on the home State of WA in a thrilling encounter in the afternoon which seen both sides share the lead throughout. Trailing by 1 going into the last end QLD skip Scott Franklin drew the shot to finish with a draw overall. This kept their unbeaten record intact and sit on top of the ladder as the only team undefeated.

A tough start to the day for our women’s team going down to defending champions Victoria in the morning. After a positional change in one of the rinks, they bounced back in the afternoon to defeat WA by 2 shots overall. Our women now sit in fifth position with two wins and two losses, three rounds remain versus SA, TAS and NT.
