Lockdown lifted for SEQ. Cairns and Yarrabah now in lockdown
Message from Bowls Queensland
The Queensland Government announced this morning (Sunday 8 August) that the 11 LGA’s in South East Queensland will come out of lockdown at 4pm today. Community sport will not be permitted in these 11 LGA’s for the next two weeks. After discussion with Andrew Sly, Assistant Director General of the QLD Sport and Recreation Department, it has been advised that bowling in the 11 LGA’s who have just come out of lockdown will be permitted with a limit of two people per rink and roll ups only.
This will be in place for the next two weeks or until directions from the QLD Government are changed.
Cairns and Yarrabah LGA’s will enter lockdown at 4pm today for three days where all forms of bowling will not be permitted.
Bowls Queensland will advise Clubs and Districts of any updates as they come to hand.
Restrictions for Locked Down Areas
Can I play golf/tennis?
Answer: All indoor and outdoor sports and exercise venues in a lockdown area are closed. This means sports such as netball, golf, tennis, lawn bowls and other sporting activities which involve use of indoor or outdoor facilities are not allowed, even if they are within 10km of your home. Similarly, no exercise or sports is permitted at commercial premises during lockdown, this includes group or individual personal training. You may exercise outdoors (not recreational boating) within a 10km radius of your home and with no more than one person from outside your household if you are in a lockdown area.
